About the Role

The Compliance Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring Youi's adherence to relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards. As a key member of the Enterprise Risk, Compliance, and Assurance (ERCA) leadership team, this position requires a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and a proven track record in compliance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Compliance Management Framework, ensuring alignment with ERCA objectives.
  • Drive the implementation of the Group's risk and compliance frameworks, collaborating with Legal on regulatory impacts.
  • Work closely with management to shape effective compliance strategies, addressing issues across the organisation.
  • Oversee regulatory responses, manage the compliance obligations register, breach reporting, and ensure timely completion of compliance projects.
  • Provide strategic input on compliance training, policies, and incident management to support a strong risk culture.
  • Deliver comprehensive compliance reports and thought leadership on regulatory changes to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Champion a culture of compliance, integrating it into business decisions and ensuring the organisation stays ahead of emerging risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, law, actuarial science, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or a master's degree in any of the above fields (preferred).
  • Experience in a Compliance role within Financial Services (10+ years is a general indicator).
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian legislation and regulations that apply to a regulated general insurance entity.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) principles and compliance frameworks.
  • Understanding of the financial services sector, especially the general insurance market and products.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Effective time management, multitasking, and prioritisation to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commercially minded approach.
  • High integrity and professional accountability.
  • Adaptability to change in a dynamic environment.
  • Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Commitment to maintaining relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
