Job Title: Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist IC of Section

We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee the operation of our Special Chemistry section, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services in support of patient care.

About the Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to drive professional growth and continuous improvement within our team, while contributing to the development of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities and logistics for the assigned laboratory.
  • Management of quality, cost and operational integrity of the department, regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services in the department, human resource, business and resource management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems.
  • Extensive high level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory with knowledge of the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in a pathology laboratory.
  • Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Masters Degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or experience in Mass Spectrometry and related techniques.
