Aboriginal Health Support Officer

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an experienced and passionate Aboriginal Identified Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Support Officer to join our Kalpa Purru Wirranjarlki – Public Health Services Section in Tennant Creek.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, promotion, and implementation of evidence-based resources and activities aimed at reducing tobacco smoking and promoting smoke-free environments in Aboriginal communities within the Barkly region.
As a key member of our team, you will work closely with community members, stakeholders, and other health professionals to design and deliver culturally responsive programs and services that address the complex needs of our community.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement community engagement strategies to promote smoking cessation and smoke-free environments.
- Collaborate with the TIS team to design and deliver smoking prevention and cessation programs, including community events, forums, and information sharing.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, stakeholders, and other health professionals to ensure effective program delivery and evaluation.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable and respectful networks with communities across the Barkly Region.
- Support the work of the National Best Practice Unit (NBPU) to identify, develop, and assist in the delivery of responsive smoking prevention and cessation social marketing campaigns.
- Minimum Cert. III in Aboriginal Health or equivalent.
- Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services and ability to support the delivery of culturally responsive programs and services.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective networks and relationships with diverse Aboriginal community groups.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a professional and culturally safe work environment.
