This career development program provides valuable experience in all aspects of the livestock industry.

About the Program

The 2026 Livestock Career Development Program is designed to equip you with essential skills and training for a future leadership or technical role within the livestock industry. You will participate in four leadership and skill-building workshops, receive on-the-ground training, and have mentors assigned to provide ongoing support and guidance.

Throughout the 24-month program, you will work in both saleyard and branch environments, learning from experienced livestock employees and leaders. This includes mastering effective selling and relationship-building techniques.

  • Placement mobility once the program concludes, allowing you to move locations as needed to maximize your experience
  • Broadened business skills: compliance, sales, client relationship building, communication, marketing, and social media, understanding finance, problem-solving, negotiation, and leading and managing a team
  • Livestock expertise: next-generation stock and station agency skills, livestock productivity, animal health and nutrition, auctions, wool technical, market requirements, and emerging technology
Key Requirements

We are seeking individuals with a strong desire to learn and succeed in the livestock industry, excellent customer service skills, and strong negotiation abilities. Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • Successful completion of Year 12
  • Worked successfully for a minimum of 24 months within the agricultural industry, ideally within livestock
  • Willingness to relocate at the conclusion or throughout the program
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident (temporary visa holders are not eligible)
  • Be vaccinated or willing to receive the Q Fever vaccination
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and leadership potential
  • Genuine interest and desire to work and learn about the livestock industry
