Job Opportunity

Garvan Institute of Medical Research is seeking a highly skilled Research Officer to join our Systems Immunology group. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of computational methods to better understand autoimmune and allergic diseases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct original research under limited supervision, with a focus on genomics data analysis and interpretation.
  • Contribute to team and Garvan research projects, including the development of computational methods and tools.
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences, and participate in seminars and workshops.
  • Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff, and provide guidance on research grant proposals.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a related area of science or engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong statistical knowledge and programming skills, with experience in genomics data analysis and interpretation.
  • Good knowledge of biology and immunology, with a strong background in computational methods and tools.
  • Previous experience in Unix and HPC environments, with proficiency in at least one scripting language (R, Python).
  • Familiarity with version control systems, software containers, workflow management systems, databases, and cloud computing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
