Ecologist/Botanist Job Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced ecologist or botanist to lead and deliver ecological assessments, environmental approvals, and contribute to conservation planning. The successful candidate will provide expert advice on various projects in Victoria.

  • Develop and implement ecological survey programs and impact assessments tailored to client needs.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, including ecological impact assessments, vegetation mapping, and offsets advice and strategy.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Offer expert advice on Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation.
  • Support junior staff in fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintain communication with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with client and regulator requirements.
  • Develop project proposals and tender submissions.

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Tertiary qualifications in botany, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ecological consulting or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Australian ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and Victorian policy framework.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current and valid driver's license.
  • You must have the right to work in Australia to apply for this job.
