Senior Ecologist or Botanist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist/Botanist to lead ecological assessments, environmental approvals, and contribute to conservation planning in Victoria.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide expert advice on projects including design and delivery of ecological survey programs and impact assessments tailored to client needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver ecological survey programs and impact assessments.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, including ecological impact assessment, vegetation mapping, and offsets advice and strategy.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Provide expert advice on Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation.
  • Support junior staff in fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery meets client and regulator expectations.
  • Develop project proposals and tender submissions.
  • Assist in preparing expert evidence and presenting findings depending on experience.
  • Foster relationships with clients, regulators, industry bodies, and researchers.
Essential Skills

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Expert knowledge of Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
