About the Role

As a Technical Specialist at Visy, you will be at the forefront of our innovation efforts, leading chemical and product development trials to enhance the performance and sustainability of our paper products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Execute Trials: Design, coordinate, and execute chemical and product trials within the manufacturing process to evaluate new materials, additives, and production techniques.
  • Analyze Trial Results: Analyze trial results to optimize paper performance, quality, and efficiency while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with Laboratory teams, chemical and machine suppliers to develop new products and improve existing formulations in response to market demands and customer requirements.
  • Drive Innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, advancements in paper chemistry, and sustainability practices to drive innovation.
  • Optimize Paper Grades: Optimise paper grades as part of the Drum Pulper Project.
  • Manage Research and Feasibility Studies: Closely collaborate with VPP Technology team to manage research and feasibility studies for Pulp and Paper Mills in Australia.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Paper Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the paper manufacturing industry.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of paper chemistry and raw materials, ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and implement practical solutions, excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations in the manufacturing industry.
