Job Title:

Assistant Farm Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the farm manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning.
  • Implement effective pasture management practices to optimize pasture and feed quality.
  • Manage and monitor livestock feeding, health, and general care.
  • Maintain and monitor electronic dairy systems for accurate data management.
  • Collaborate with the farm manager to monitor progress, provide updates, and communicate operational concerns.
  • Perform routine farm maintenance and adhere to machinery upkeep schedules.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site training to enhance skills and industry knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Previous farm management or relevant farming experience is recommended.
  • Large herd experience preferred but willing to train the suitable candidate.
  • Strong understanding of pasture management, grazing techniques, and livestock care.
  • Solid understanding of electronic dairy systems and data management.
  • Good knowledge of farm machinery and maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently when required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and take initiative.
  • A strong passion for farming and working outdoors.
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work a split-shift roster.
