The Role

Laing O'Rourke's Rail Division is seeking an experienced Signalling Senior Project Manager to expand our railway signalling capability. Based in Seven Hills, NSW, you will work as part of a multi-skilled team on various rail projects across NSW and Australia.

This role entails leading the conversion and design elements of a project to ensure timely, cost-effective, quality-driven delivery that meets safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Project Lead to manage client expectations, including establishing project briefs, cost plans, risk mitigation strategies, and development drivers.
  • Daily management of authorities and utilities interactions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop a design procurement strategy with the Project Lead and Principal Engineer to ensure consultants understand key project drivers.
  • Engage cost planners to develop overall cost plans and collaborate on design alignment with budget constraints.
  • Support the Project Lead in developing a comprehensive conversion program addressing revenue, client, authority, design, procurement, and delivery issues.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities across all project aspects to optimise Laing O'Rourke's position.
  • Ensure all works meet client quality requirements and Australian standards/codes.
  • Prepare PCG format reporting documentation and attend meetings. For internal reporting, present monthly conversion reports tracking budgets, programs, and outputs.
About You
  • Proven experience in managing teams during the delivery phase of construction projects.
  • Background in Signalling and Communication construction projects, contractor management, and degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or Construction Management.
  • Strong problem-solving, commercial acumen, and communication skills across all levels – Directors to operatives.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in Rail Signalling is preferred.
