We're seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Systems Engineer II to join our team at Blue Origin, where we're developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. As a member of our Test & Flight Operations team, you'll provide centralized support to business units, focusing on ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop and manage specifications and requirements, as well as rocket engine facility and lunar avionics interfaces. You'll collaborate with designers, operators, and project managers to ensure successful on-time delivery of products.

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of aerospace avionics and fluid transfer/mechanical systems, as well as experience with systems engineering tools like Jama, Windchill, and Cameo. You'll lead and present at major gated reviews and contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop & manage specifications and requirements (at system and subsystem levels)
  • Develop & manage rocket engine facility and lunar avionics interfaces, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Decompose requirements from system and subsystem-levels into lower-level requirements
  • Directly own the verification and validation of requirements, in collaboration with the test engineers while actively being hands-on
  • Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels and to verification activities
  • Support trade studies across a diverse and wide-range of technical projects
  • Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill, and Cameo
  • Lead and present at major gated reviews including design reviews, readiness reviews, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, or computer engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering experience on complex systems
  • Familiar with aerospace avionics and/or fluid transfer/mechanical systems
  • Solid understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals in a few areas such as Concept of Operations, Requirements Management, Verification, and/or Integration
  • Familiar with aerospace hardware verification and validation process
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering experience on complex systems
  • Strong understanding of aerospace avionics and fluid transfer/mechanical systems
  • Familiar with INCOSE practices and processes
  • Familiar with requirements management software such as Jama
