About the Small Animal Medicine Internship

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Small Animal Medicine Intern. As a key member of our Internal Medicine department, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced specialists and nurses to deliver exceptional patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of complex and varied caseloads, providing a comprehensive learning experience.
  • Compile and summarise patient histories, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Provide patient care and support to hospitalised patients, promoting their comfort and well-being.
  • Assist with anaesthesia and procedures, developing your technical skills and confidence.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and referring veterinarians, ensuring clear and concise information exchange.
  • Participate in regular tutorials and mentoring sessions, enhancing your medicine knowledge and skills.
  • Contribute to a multi-specialist medicine journal club, fostering collaboration and professional growth.

Requirements:

  • Recognised Veterinary degree in Australia and eligibility for veterinary registration in Victoria.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong foundation in veterinary medicine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
