NSW Government is seeking a culturally confident heritage management expert to provide their First Nations perspective on the Conservation Council's heritage and conservation discussions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in First Nations heritage management, demonstrated knowledge of First Nations cultural heritage management and conservation, and proven ability in providing advice on the management and conservation of sites with First Nations cultural heritage values.

In this role, you will foster and lead discussion on First Nations cultural heritage values, advocate for, promote and engage with the broader community on First Nations cultural heritage issues, and interpret and tell stories about the layered cultural heritage values of a site.

You will also provide advisory skills, including experience and track record in providing advice, preferably on a similar committee or panel, including demonstrated advanced communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

This opportunity is identified for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island peoples, being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational qualification required to undertake this role under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

The membership term is three years, with extensions for further terms at the discretion of the Sydney Opera House Trust. The Council holds at least three formal meetings per year, and members may occasionally be asked to attend additional sessions to review time-sensitive matters.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $300-$600 per hour, depending on the individual's qualifications and experience.
