Job Title: Aboriginal Midwife Position

Location: Blacktown Hospital

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,049.73 - $98,351.38 per annum

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Midwife to join our team at Blacktown Hospital. As an Aboriginal Midwife, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, culturally sensitive maternity care to Aboriginal families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based, woman-centered maternity care to Aboriginal families, collaborating with health services and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Work in partnership with Aboriginal Health Services staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide clinical, cultural, educational, and psychological support.
  • Enhance the seamless transition to child and family health services and other agencies as required.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as a Registered Midwife (Division 1).
  • Demonstrated extensive experience and clinical skill as a registered midwife.
  • Availability to work flexible hours with availability to be on call.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the broader Aboriginal Health issues, including the unique medical, physical, social, and emotional issues in Aboriginal maternal and infant health.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of continuity of carer/primary health care models of midwifery care, in addition to an explicit understanding of strengths-based philosophy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, with demonstrated effective teamwork and communication skills and demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Current Driver's Licence valid in Australia and willingness to use for work purposes.
