Job Role:

 

The Groundsperson, Grade 1 plays a pivotal role in the success of our race day events and creating an exceptional experience for attendees.

Reporting to the Racecourse Manager, this permanent full-time position is responsible for maintaining the course surfaces, tracks, and grounds at one of our venues, ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking general maintenance work including laboring, cleaning, track maintenance, and adhering to instructions.
  • Operating plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front-end loaders, forklifts, power sweepers, harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers, and general spray operations.
  • Conducting routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial, and other surfaces.
  • Maintaining the upkeep and care of our racetracks.
  • Working independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.

Requirements:

 

To be successful in the role, applicants should possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management (preferred but not required).
  • General operational and mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Appropriate licenses to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front-end loader, and forklifts preferred but not required.
  • Experience in operating plant and equipment, including Bobcat, Grader, and Excavator desirable.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals.
  • A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A can-do attitude.
