Role Overview

The Engagement and Awareness Officer is a key member of the Office of the Women's Safety Commissioner, playing a vital role in raising awareness of women's safety issues and engaging the community on domestic, family, and sexual violence.

This position provides oversight, leadership, and advice to improve women's safety in NSW. Key activities include media engagement, social media content creation, communication projects, and supporting public events.

About the Team

The Office plays a critical role in overseeing, leading, and advising on initiatives to enhance women's safety in NSW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create impactful communication materials for various channels and audiences.
  • Develop high-quality social media content with the Commissioner for quick turnaround.
  • Coordinate media outreach aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Manage awareness projects, including logistics and stakeholder engagement.
  • Utilize research to inform engagement strategies and target audiences.
  • Prepare reports, budgets, and discussion papers for stakeholders.
  • Advise on communication for campaigns and programs.

We're Looking For

  • Experience in planning and implementing effective communications in a dynamic environment.
  • Hands-on social media strategy and content creation skills, including Canva and management tools.
  • Knowledge of community management and handling contentious issues.
  • Understanding of government operations, media, and political processes.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders is advantageous.
