This is a unique opportunity to make a genuine impact in Aboriginal health and cancer care outcomes. As a Cancer Support Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering holistic health promotion, community education, and culturally safe cancer care pathways.
Job Description:You will collaborate with local hospitals, palliative care services, and clinic staff to strengthen referral processes and build community trust. This is a chance to combine your nursing skills with health education, advocacy, and program development in a supportive, values-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Promote and embed cancer screening resources across community programs
- Support clients and families in navigating cancer services and palliative care pathways
- Coordinate planning with hospitals and Aboriginal Medical Services to ensure culturally safe referrals
- Deliver health promotion activities, yarning circles, and community education
- Assist in developing quality improvement processes and culturally appropriate learning materials
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in community health, chronic disease, oncology, or related programs
- A current QLD Driver's Licence, First Aid/CPR, Blue Card, and National Police Check
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team
- Cultural awareness working rural and remote and with Aboriginal and Torres Island communities
