Research Associate

About the Role
As a Research Assistant at the University of South Australia, you will play a key role in supporting animal research projects, including the development of antimicrobial wound irrigation technology and a stimuli-responsive dressing for treating wound infections in Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Core Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research under general supervision to contribute to the success of research projects
- Design and perform experiments involving in vivo wound models to meet the requirements of research grants and industry projects
- Contribute to the development of animal ethics applications, IBC applications, and chemical risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS regulations and biosafety protocols
- Provide advice and guidance to postgraduate students, internship students, and visiting students in the appointee's area of expertise
- Prepare and contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference papers, and seminar papers arising from research
Essential Skills and Experience
- An Honours degree in Biomedical and/or Animal Sciences and/or relevant research experience
- Skills and experience using in vivo models, including animal handling, anaesthetics, clinical management, record keeping, and writing animal ethics applications
- Experience in tissue processing, histology, and immunohistochemistry
- Experience of protein analysis, including Western blotting
- Project management skills, including the ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects to meet milestones
