Painter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at Adelaide Builders Pty Ltd. As a Painter, you will be responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Apply paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect surfaces.
  2. Read blueprints and instructions to determine the type and amount of work required.
  3. Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors/homeowners regarding painting tasks.
  4. Prepare surfaces for painting by smoothing, sanding, and removing old paint.
  5. Make on-site preparations, including building scaffolding and covering fixtures.
  6. Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, or plaster.
  7. Select premixed paints or mix required portions of pigment and oil for the desired color.
  8. Paint surfaces according to instructions using various tools, such as brushes, spray guns, and paint rollers.
  9. Thin drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  10. Remove fixtures, like pictures and electric switch covers, from walls prior to painting.
  11. Spread drop cloths over floors and room furnishings to protect surfaces during painting.
  12. Create special effects, such as wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects, by applying paint with cloth, brush, or sponge.
  13. Set up scaffolding or ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  14. Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover using a brush.
  15. Apply wallpaper fabrics.
  16. Estimate costs involved and negotiate prices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum AQF Certificate III.
  • No less than 3 years of experience as a Painter Trades Worker.
  • High-level professionalism with general etiquette.
  • Ability to travel to jobs in Adelaide.

What We Offer:

  • Full-time permanent role.
  • Salary ranging between $60,000.00 – $80,000.00.
