Senior Financial Accountant

This is a key position within an organisation, requiring a Senior Financial Accountant to assist in managing and communicating financial and corporate accounting activities on a national scale. The successful candidate will own aspects of the lease accounting process and be responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the lease accounting process for the business, following AASB16 standards.
  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end tasks, pre and post preparation of management reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee tax compliance including income tax returns, FBT, GST and BAS in consultation with external advisors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements.
  • Support Business Unit leaders with strategies to follow up outstanding debtors.
  • Provide guidance on financial processes, procedures and maintain internal controls; focus on supporting operational functions including warehouse, logistics and inventory management activities.
  • Provide analysis, insights and recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Controller on actual operating performance including variances, overheads spend to budget/ variance.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to ensure compliance and robust internal control.
  • Lead ad-hoc projects as directed by the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Controller.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Accounting or Certified Practising Accountant qualified accounting professional.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact and engage cross-functionally within the organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and proven lease accounting (AASB16/IFRS16) experience & knowledge.
  • Previous experience working in a large-scale, dynamic FMCG/Retail organisation.
  • Prior training in a Big 4 chartered environment advantageous.
