Support Professional for Dementia Program

About the Role:

A career-defining opportunity exists for a skilled Support Professional to join our team and make a meaningful impact in delivering our Dementia Support Australia Program.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will play a vital role in improving lives and implementing best practices. This is an excellent chance to grow professionally, work with a dedicated team, and provide exceptional support to individuals living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support families and caregivers in understanding how dementia affects each individual.
  • Equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through coaching, resource development, and behaviour support planning.
  • Develop reports that are contextualised to individual situations and people, influencing positive change on the ground and enhancing quality of life for people living with dementia.
  • Undertake assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and their care network.
  • Work in partnership with the broader Dementia Support Australia team to build capability across home and aged care sectors.
  • Contribute to research, projects, and programs, innovating solutions to meet the changing needs of the sector.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting people living with dementia – A genuine commitment to supporting individuals and their families.
  • Experience supporting older people, ideally within Australian residential and/or community aged care settings, including an understanding of the unique needs of older people in regional and remote areas.
  • High-level negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • A current Australian driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health.
