Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Consultant to join our team. As an Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of projects across the business in the water, energy, and environment sectors.

  • Support internal consultancy teams in relation to planning and environmental management matters.
  • Lead and support planning and environmental projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are executed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure planning and environmental considerations are integrated into project design, execution, and monitoring processes.
  • Keep abreast of local, regional, and national planning and environmental regulations, ensuring that all projects and initiatives comply with relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Provide technical planning and environmental advice to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities for planning and environmental work permits and approvals.
  • Prepare, administer, and assess contracts in relation to planning and environmental management.
  • Support work programs to ensure that they are delivered to client expectations, timeframes, costs, and specifications.
  • Work with a diverse and inclusive team who are responsible for the delivery, completion, and reporting of projects.
  • Engage and establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a culture of delivery excellence through coaching and knowledge sharing with colleagues.
  • Develop and foster trusted relationships with key clients.
Requirements

Candidates should possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications or similar relevant qualifications.
  • Understanding and experience of statutory planning and environmental impact assessment processes.
  • 5 – 12+ years experience as a Planning and Environment Practitioner, with the ability to manage a diverse portfolio of functions while maintaining a focus on critical issues.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of the water, energy, or environment sectors.
  • Proven experience in project management overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals, including government agencies, community representatives, and industry professionals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills together with strong presentation and report writing abilities.
  • Budgeting skills together with the ability to perform under pressure while providing high-quality outcomes.
  • A consultancy and/or public sector background sector experience is preferred.
  • A high level of business and personal ethics.
