Job Overview

This is a unique opportunity to join a motivated team as a Senior Middleware Database Administrator. The role supports key applications and hardware, in particular seeking skills in Oracle middleware and database technologies including APEX, Forms and Reports and Tomcat.

">Key Responsibilities
  • Server Administration:
  • Install, configure, test, optimise, implement and commission server level software components needed to support software development and operational services.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation and recommendations on the operational performance of the software and database technologies.
  • Relationship Building:
  • Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships internally with other staff and externally to ensure the alignment and integration of operational services, processes and prioritisation of projects and business changes.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
  • Provide high level technical skills in the analysis of IT system issues and the formulation, design and provision of appropriate solutions and improvements, including the review of proposed software and infrastructure design solutions, providing advice on data models required to support solutions.

Assessment Criteria

  • Technical Expertise:
  • Demonstrated extensive hands-on database administration experience including patching, cloning, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, applications security & performance tuning (code review).
  • Leadership and Technical Direction:
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level of technical expertise, system analysis to provide technical direction through solution design, standardisation, professional advice and support of enterprise infrastructure in a large customer focus organisation.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Demonstrated ability to gather insights and embrace new ideas and innovation to inform future practice.
  • Service Management:
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical, research and problem-solving skills and ability to develop and promote ITIL Service Management processes primarily incident / problem / change / release management.

Working Conditions

  • Travel Requirements:
  • Travel within the state and interstate from time to time may be a requirement of this position.
