Shop Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Shop Operations Manager to lead and support our team in the day-to-day operations of two volunteer-run hospital shops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of day-to-day shop operations, including food preparation, coffee service, cleaning, and point-of-sale activities.
  • Maintain high standards in hygiene, food handling, and service presentation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standard procedures.
  • Promote a warm and responsive customer experience while addressing issues professionally and efficiently to support a high-quality service environment.
  • Collaborate with management and the Shops Coordinator to improve systems, implement safe practices, and support fundraising efforts.

As a successful candidate, you will have:

  • Proven ability to lead teams, supervise staff or volunteers, and manage task allocation in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in espresso coffee making, food preparation, and quality control within a retail setting.
  • Skilled in providing clear instructions and on-the-job training, with strong interpersonal and communication skills to support a diverse team.
  • Sound understanding of food safety legislation and standards, with relevant food safety training.
  • Excellent time management, rostering, and problem-solving skills to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Competent in basic computer use and point-of-sale systems relevant to a retail environment.
