Crisis Intervention Specialist

Providing violence and trauma-informed counseling and advocacy services to adult survivors of sexual assault is crucial for their recovery. At Casa House, you will be joining a team that values inclusivity, diversity, and intersectionality.
The counselor advocate role is primarily responsible for providing counseling and advocacy services to victim-survivors of sexual assault.
A regular day will see you participating in the intake service, assessing and enabling eligible adult victim-survivors of sexual assault to access our service with ease. You will provide telephone, telehealth, and face-to-face support, counseling, and advocacy to victim-survivors of both recent and past sexual assault. You will coordinate the provision of follow-up medical support and advocate on behalf of victim-survivors with other systems, including health, police, and broader judicial systems.
You will bring with you tertiary qualifications in social work or other relevant health professions. You must have skills and experience demonstrated in crisis counseling, knowledge, and skills in supporting survivors of sexual assault and violence. Experience in providing short-medium-term counseling support is required. Your service should be based on an intersectional feminist rights advocacy, violence, and trauma-informed practice framework. Excellent communication, verbal, and written negotiation, and advocacy skills are essential.
As a counselor advocate, you will play a critical role in supporting victim-survivors of sexual assault. You will provide a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their experiences and receive support. Your expertise will enable you to assess the needs of each individual and develop a personalized plan to meet those needs. You will work closely with other professionals to ensure that victim-survivors receive comprehensive support.
