Senior Planning Strategist

We are seeking an accomplished Principal Planner to join our NSW Planning team. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to Stantec business goals by providing professional planning and resource management advice in both statutory and strategic planning.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a range of land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects across New South Wales. You will have the chance to collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams and work independently as a Principal Planner on your own projects.

• Demonstrate expertise in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.
• Act as a project manager, overseeing planning, programming, and coordination of projects to ensure that project outputs meet or exceed agreed goals.
• Develop project plans and strategies for the completion of major projects, including identification of business resource requirements.
• Manage or assist with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients.
• Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet or exceed client expectations.
• Lead and assist with the preparation of tender documentation.
• Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities.
• Grow, develop, and mentor junior staff.

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
• Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
• Self-motivated and self-directed.
• Interest in working on a broad variety of projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers, and clients.
