
Senior Planning Strategist

We are seeking an accomplished Principal Planner to join our NSW Planning team. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to Stantec business goals by providing professional planning and resource management advice in both statutory and strategic planning.
About the RoleThis role offers a unique opportunity to work on a range of land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects across New South Wales. You will have the chance to collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams and work independently as a Principal Planner on your own projects.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate expertise in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.
- Act as a project manager, overseeing planning, programming, and coordination of projects to ensure that project outputs meet or exceed agreed goals.
- Develop project plans and strategies for the completion of major projects, including identification of business resource requirements.
- Manage or assist with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients.
- Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet or exceed client expectations.
- Lead and assist with the preparation of tender documentation.
- Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities.
- Grow, develop, and mentor junior staff.
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
- Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
- Interest in working on a broad variety of projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers, and clients.
