About the Role

The Business Manager will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of quality learning and teaching within a Catholic school context through effective financial and business management. The successful candidate will provide key direction in school spending, budgets, assets, site, buildings, finances, fees, and non-educational data analysis.

The Business Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting procedures, financial management, and strategic development in an educational setting. This includes accounts payable and receivable, banking procedures and reconciliation, preparation and presentation of monthly reports, asset management, risk management, plan, organize, and manage maintenance, building, and renovation projects to budget and of high quality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience and a strong financial and business background. They will be able to develop effective relationships with key suppliers and contractors, work in a collaborative environment, and manage a cohesive support team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide key direction in school spending, budgets, assets, site, buildings, finances, fees, and non-educational data analysis
  • Responsible for the day-to-day accounting procedures, financial management, and strategic development in an educational setting
  • Implement debt recovery strategies that respect the dignity of families
  • Prepare reports for the Principal and school finance committee on budgets, assets, incoming funds, outgoing payments, liquidity, loan liability, maintenance liabilities, and insurances
  • Oversee Flexi-schools, working with the Finance Secretary
  • Provide effective WHS management and coordination of any repairs and maintenance at the school
  • Ensure effective management of school support and operational staff by assisting the Principal with human resources management, including preparing and maintaining effective role descriptions, ongoing performance management, and accurate performance of hours
  • Engage, induct, and coordinate contractors on the school site
  • Ensure a comprehensive maintenance schedule of facilities and equipment is in place and up to date
About You

The ideal candidate will have experience and/or skills in brokering partnerships and sponsorship as well as having industry and business links and/or relationship development expertise and experience. They will have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, high-order leadership skills, high-order organizational, planning, and communication skills, and a high work ethic and commitment to excellence.

The successful candidate will be able to develop effective relationships with key suppliers and contractors, work in a collaborative environment, and manage a cohesive support team. They will have a strong financial and business background and be able to provide key direction in school spending, budgets, assets, site, buildings, finances, fees, and non-educational data analysis.

Essential Criteria
  • Undergraduate/Postgraduate university qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance

Candidates who meet all areas of criteria and believe they have extensive qualifications and experiences but do not have tertiary qualifications may be considered for this position.
