Island Health is seeking a skilled Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our team at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
About the RoleWe are a tertiary care facility and the referral centre for cardiac surgery patients on Vancouver Island, with a high volume of cardiac cases each year. Our cardiac anesthesia group provides care for complex procedures, including on-pump coronary artery bypass surgeries, valve surgery, and ECMO management.
Responsibilities- Provide cardiac anesthesia services for a wide range of surgical specialties
- Manage postoperative cardiac surgery patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVU)
- Participate in preoperative assessments, anesthesia preoperative consultation clinics, and acute pain service patient care
- Teach and mentor cardiac fellows, medical students, and residents
To be successful in this role, you must have current experience managing postoperative cardiac surgery patients in the CVU and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) and PALS certification are also required. A fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia and Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography certification are desired.
