Job Opportunity: Lead Financial Accountant

This is a unique opportunity to grow and shape our finance team, with major projects and high earning potential.

We are seeking a Lead Financial Accountant to support the Finance Manager and CFO in managing day-to-day Finance and Accounting functions. This leadership role will take ownership of financial accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with relevant standards, and adherence to statutory requirements.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure monthly and statutory reporting, revenue recognition, and strengthen financial controls and policies.
  • Internal Recovery & Asset Management: Manage internal recovery processes, asset lifecycle, and fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and process improvement.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Inspire and develop a high-performing finance team, promote accountability and growth, and collaborate on recruitment and people initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Culture: Foster a supportive team environment, encourage innovation, and drive continuous improvement across finance operations.

About You:

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in financial accounting, audit, or commercial environments.
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting (e.g., Bachelor of Commerce).
  • CA or CPA certification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience managing ATO compliance.
  • Proven experience managing internal cost recovery processes and cross-charging methodologies.
  • Exposure to project-based revenue recognition and contract accounting environments.
