Criminal Law Practice Leader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced attorney to lead our team of lawyers in criminal law.

  • Lead and manage the office and its staff, overseeing daily operations and mentoring junior lawyers.
  • Drive business development initiatives, generating client work through networking and strong legal skills.
  • Represent the firm in professional networks, events, and community engagements, fostering partnerships and expanding our reach.

This senior role is ideal for someone who thrives in leadership, is commercially astute, and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our practice.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years' post-admission experience in criminal law, with demonstrated leadership and team management experience.

  • A proven track record of generating client work through networking and business development.
  • Excellent legal skills and advocacy in both summary and indictable matters.
  • High-level communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to high ethical standards and client care is essential, as is a desire to take on a strategic leadership role.

  • Existing referral network in the suburbs, or a strong interest in building one.
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers, or a willingness to learn and develop this skill.
  • Strong interest in legal education or community engagement, or a desire to contribute to firm-wide initiatives.
