**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled healthcare interpreter to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds or the Deaf community.

About the Role:

This role is responsible for providing high-quality professional health care interpreting services in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.

  • Interpret accurately and impartially in certified languages to support equity and access to healthcare services.
  • Convey social and cultural factors affecting healthcare to ensure high-quality performance.
  • Identify ethical dilemmas and deal with them in compliance with AUSIT Code of Ethics.
  • Travel may be required as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and patients to ensure effective communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • NAATI Certification when the language is certified by NAATI; or Recognition if certification is not available.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interpret in a healthcare setting.
