About the Role

This role involves working closely with individuals and families to empower them to make positive changes and address their housing and wellbeing needs.

The Housing and Wellbeing Specialist will engage with clients in crisis accommodation, street outreach, and refuges, building strong partnerships and providing ongoing support.

Responsibilities

  • Foster stable housing and support families in maintaining tenancies, managing budgets, and advocating for their needs.
  • Enhance parenting skills and knowledge to promote healthy child-rearing practices.
  • Establish structured family routines that improve household management, healthy eating, and quality family time.
  • Improve parental stress management and overall wellbeing by coordinating access to ATSICHS Mental Health Services.
  • Ensure children meet developmental milestones by facilitating access to ATSICHS paediatric and Mums and Bubs medical services.
  • Improve family financial stability through employment and training opportunities.
  • Enhance school attendance and engagement.
  • Support kindergarten enrolment and family participation in early years playgroups.
  • Ensure family safety.
  • Reduce substance misuse.
  • Improve family health through annual preventative health assessments at ATSICHS medical clinics.
  • Enhance family dental care through annual preventative dental checks at ATSICHS dental clinics.

Benefits

  • Permanent full-time position.
  • Starting annual salary of $94,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience).
  • 11.5% Super + Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging (increases take-home pay).
  • Work for a community-controlled organisation.

Requirements

  • Current Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology, with 2 years' relevant experience in social services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a performance-driven environment, meeting performance targets.
  • Ability to build client agency, self-efficacy, and facilitate change through client empowerment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide behaviour change interventions.
  • Experience working with high-risk and crisis clients.
  • Knowledge of available supports for mental health, substance misuse, education, employment, and housing.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Requirement to travel across Logan and/or Brisbane region.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours.
  • Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply.
  • Current Police Check.
