Job Overview

The Role of Strategic Asset Manager is a key position that oversees the management of Heavy Rail Facilities & Property across Transport for NSW's asset portfolio.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can maintain and ensure accuracy, compliance, and currency of the Asset Register across the asset class.

The successful candidate will lead the creation and delivery of integrated investment plans aligned with long-term infrastructure strategies, system reliability, and funding considerations.

  • Maintain accurate records of assets across the portfolio to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop business cases, reports, and recommendations by analysing data, assessing risks, evaluating costs, and consulting on best practices.
  • Lead the development of transport asset management strategic assets and services plans (TAM SASP) and asset and services plans (TAM ASP).
  • Provide assurance on safety, environmental, maintenance, and operational performance of the asset class.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, including technology adoptions, upgrades, renewals, and divestments to optimize lifecycle value.
  • Participate in governance as the asset owner, approving changes in program intent related to acquisition, sustainment, renewal, and divestment activities.

  • Manage the lifecycle and operational demands of heavy rail facilities, property, energy, and utilities in a complex regulatory environment.
