At Clayton Utz, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions Manager to lead our business development function for the Corporate M&A, Capital Markets & Tax practice groups within the Advisory & Transactions Stream.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-profile clients, overseeing the strategic development and management of key initiatives relating to Corporate M&A, Capital Markets & Tax. You will be responsible for client management, pursuit initiatives, and related pitching, working closely with other business development managers in your Stream.

You will have access to a shared pool of Advisers and Coordinators within the Advisory & Transactions Stream and will be supported by a centralized pitching team for larger, panel-based opportunities. This role reports to the Senior Manager for Advisory & Transactions.

About the Role

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work alongside industry-leading partners to set and implement the strategic direction of the practice. You will be involved in managing the Corporate M&A, Capital Markets & Tax practice groups in alignment with the Advisory & Transactions Stream's strategic objectives.

  • You will identify client/new work opportunities, emerging products and service areas, and market development opportunities and work with senior stakeholders to pursue these.
  • You will plan and execute market-leading client engagement opportunities, providing a source of market/industry insight to key stakeholders.
  • You will work with the wider team to implement the firm's 2023-2026 strategy, mentoring and leading team members, and communicating the vision and purpose of C&M within the firm.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (either business/legal/finance) coupled with legal/client development experience gained ideally from a professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and proactively, with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management skills, a proactive and pragmatic style, proven leadership skills, and people/team management expertise.
  • You will also need resilience and self-motivation, able to work autonomously with a large degree of flexibility and adaptability.

We offer a highly competitive salary package, estimated to be in the range of $150,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
