Aboriginal Education Officer

We are seeking to establish a pool of education professionals for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies. Appointments may be offered at any time for positions that commence during this period.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and assistance to Aboriginal students, their parents/guardians, teachers, and the community through the knowledge and sharing of Aboriginal culture. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment for Aboriginal students and establishing positive working relationships with families and local communities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting teachers in implementing educational programs;
  • Providing cultural direction in the development of educational programs;
  • Contributing to a school-level team to provide multicultural services;

Desirable qualities include:

  • A strong link to Aboriginal culture;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact with students, teachers, parents, and community members;
Selection Criteria

To be considered for this role, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team;
  • Strong organizational skills to deliver effective education programs;
  • Ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students;
Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights;
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before commencing employment;
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department's Screening Unit before commencing employment;
