We are seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEO) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The RoleAlbany SHS is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated AIEOs to join our team. As an AIEO, you will be well organised, reliable, and flexible whilst providing support and assistance to Aboriginal students, their parents/guardians, teachers, and the community through the knowledge and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. AIEOs should be passionate about enabling Aboriginal students to be successful as Aboriginal people and will provide a safe and supportive environment for Aboriginal students. Ideal applicants will display a strong link to Aboriginal culture and establish positive working relationships with families and local communities. An ability to work well both in teams and individually to achieve successful outcomes for students and their families is highly regarded.

EligibilityTo work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, community members and professional staff on the provision and development of educational programs.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings and with different audiences, including community members, teaching and other professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multicultural direction in the development of the educational program, development of language resources, and evaluation of education and behaviour management programs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
