Job Description

This role requires a First Nations Registered Nurse with teaching experience, who can contribute to developing culturally sensitive units for our Diploma, Bachelor and Master (pre-registration) of Nursing courses. It is essential that you possess the expertise and knowledge required to ensure cultural sensitivity from a First Nation perspective.

It is crucial that you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, making this a genuine occupational requirement under anti-discrimination laws.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lecturing, teaching, assessing and marking Nursing students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and assessments.
  • Teaching lecture and tutorial classes.
  • Developing First Nations units for various levels of nursing courses.
  • Advising on the suitability of other units from a First Nations perspective.
  • Assisting in the development of support services and systems for First Nation students.
  • Occasionally coordinating and/or leading activities of other staff teaching in the same discipline.
  • Engaging in teaching evaluations and professional development.
  • Identifying and monitoring students at risk of failing.
  • Maintaining high professional and ethical conduct.
Qualifications

About You

  • 5 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated lived experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
  • Strong understanding of theory and practice.
  • Excellent presentation and leadership skills.

Advantageous but not required:

  • Completion or enrolment in a PhD in an area related to Nursing.
  • Relevant tertiary teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated teaching achievements and results.
  • Working with Children's Check.
