Job Title: Financial Services Coordinator

Job Description

The role of the Financial Services Coordinator will involve providing administrative support to the office of the Bishop and parishes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end payroll for parish and clergy, including month-end duties.
  • Providing technical assistance and advice on payroll systems to ensure they are properly maintained.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding payroll.
  • Assisting parishes with financial matters and reporting.
  • Supporting parishes with bank reconciliations.
  • Administering finance and sacramental systems.
  • Lodging Australian Tax Office GST/PAYG submissions.
  • Coordinating external audits and assisting with finance software installations, enhancements or upgrades.
  • Assisting with asset/property-related queries and ensuring record keeping is up to date and valuations are current.
  • Supporting parishes with staff recruitment and serving as a liaison with the ATO or OOB on HR/compliance matters if required.

Requirements include a commitment to the mission, teachings and practices of the Catholic faith; an understanding of the structure and workings of the Catholic Church; and strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience using Xero or similar accounting software and PADRE or other CRM software is desirable.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting software such as Xero.
  • Understanding of Catholic Church structures and practices.
