Role Overview

The Launceston General Hospital serves the North of Tasmania and a population of approximately 250,000. It has excellent teaching and research credentials with ties to the University of Tasmania Medical School and research supported by external foundations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Specialist Rheumatologist, providing specialist care in Rheumatology
  • Provide outpatient consultation to public patients across Northern Tasmania in specialist Rheumatology services
  • Offer specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
  • Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Supervision and support will be provided from the Rheumatology Unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital

Working Conditions

This is a permanent full-time or potentially two positions of 0.5 FTE, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight. Flexible working hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant to work part-time hours.


Requirements
  • Holds specialist registration
  • Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway
  • Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality
  • Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

Benefits
  • A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances, and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
  • Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starting at $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings based on seniority, in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania).

Additional Benefits
  • Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro rata per annum.
  • On-call allowance % of Base Salary.
  • Access to salary packaging a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
