Job Title: Policy, Research and Advocacy Manager

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in health or social policy, planning, research and/or governance.

  • This includes relevant tertiary qualifications, comprehensive knowledge of primary healthcare, and demonstrated high-level experience in strategic policy development and implementation.
  • The selected individual must be able to foster strong stakeholder relationships, provide leadership in policy, research and advocacy, and manage a team effectively.
Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic direction for the organization's policy, research and advocacy priorities.
  2. Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  3. Lead and manage a team of professionals in research and production of high-quality reports, submissions, and policy documents.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and external partners.
  5. Contribute to the organization's Senior Management Team, providing strategic guidance on organizational policies, WHS practice, and other key initiatives.
Selection Criteria:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in health or social policy, planning, research and/or governance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in comprehensive primary healthcare, including the social and cultural determinants of health.
  • High level experience in strategic policy development and implementation, with a sound understanding of government policy processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships internally and with government and other external stakeholders.
  • Strong secretariat management skills and experience in providing strategic support to a CEO and Board.

Applicants should possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to consult, collaborate and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Self-management skills are essential, particularly in dealing with multiple projects and deadlines, prioritizing tasks and managing timelines and workloads efficiently.
