The RoleAs a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support to our clients. This includes installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and training on sophisticated laboratory equipment.
Responsibilities- Field Service & Technical Support:
- Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, and repair analytical instruments at customer sites.
- Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting for customers via phone and email.
- Operate and test analytical instruments, simulating real-world conditions to ensure accuracy and compliance with ASTM and other industry standards.
- Work with Particle and Material Science, Elemental, Physical Properties, Spectroscopy and Chromatography analyzers, ensuring optimal performance.
- Customer Training & Relationship Management:
- Conduct training sessions for customers on instrument operation, maintenance, and best practices.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Provide recommendations and technical insights to customers regarding instrument performance and optimization.
- Service Contracts & Sales Support:
- Assist in maintaining and selling service contracts to customers.
- Work closely with the sales team to identify opportunities for upselling maintenance services, spare parts, and extended warranties.
- Provide feedback on customer needs and competitor activity to help drive business growth.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's, Trade Qualification or associate's degree in chemistry, electronics, instrumentation, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience working with analytical instrumentation (Gas Chromatography, Elemental Analysis, or Physical Properties analyzers).
- Industry experience in petrochemical, refining, or industrial laboratory environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of ASTM testing methods and standards is preferred.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision, you will also require strong problem-solving skills, hands-on experience with instrument calibration, repairs, and troubleshooting, and excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Frequent travel across Australia & New Zealand (up to 70% fieldwork) is required, along with a valid driver's license and passport (occasional international travel may be required), and being legally eligible to work in Australia without restrictions.
