Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Coal Technician to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will play a crucial role in the accurate and timely preparation and analysis of coal and related samples.

This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent time management abilities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Accurately collecting coal samples from various mechanical sampling systems and within a CHPP environment, adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Receipting, recording, analysing, reporting, sorting, and storing coal samples accurately.
  • Operating analytical and manual preparation equipment.
  • Planning shift workflows and coordinating sample pick-ups and analysis.
  • Performing general repairs and maintenance of analytical and preparation equipment.
  • Fault-finding and diagnostics of equipment as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with analytical methods, procedures, and quality systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in coal sampling, preparation, and testing (preferred but not essential).
  • Good computer skills, including Excel (CCLAS experience advantageous but not essential).
  • Previous experience in a mineral laboratory environment (preferred).
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proven ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Current Standard 11 (preferred but not essential).
  • The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical.
