We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Educator to join our team.

Job Description

This part-time ongoing role involves working as a Clinical Nurse Educator within the Banksia ward at The Royal Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellence in mental health nursing care, developing skills and knowledge of new and existing staff, and creating professional development plans for all mental health nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement high quality clinical supervision frameworks for undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, transition nurses, and all mental health nursing staff.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of nursing workforce education and training programs.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to support delivery of excellence in mental health nursing care.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Evidence of extensive experience in acute adolescent mental health.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and application of contemporary theories and techniques of practice that underpin mental health care and management of challenging behaviors.
  • Post graduate diploma in Mental Health Nursing or completed a specialist undergraduate Mental Health Nursing program.

About the Role

Banksia Ward is a 16-bed inpatient unit for young people aged 13 to 18 years, focusing on assessment and treatment of a range of mental and psychological disorders within a least restrictive environment. The ward operates with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, mental health qualified nurses, a psychologist, social worker, psychiatry registrar, and teachers with special education qualifications.
