
Safety Advocate

Provide a safe and respectful environment for individuals in crisis, utilizing recovery coaching principles to ensure their well-being. The role involves working with involuntary guests, ensuring their safety and security within the facility. It is essential to maintain a non-violent approach, using verbal de-escalation skills to resolve conflicts. In rare instances, physical hold interventions may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Care & Advocacy
- Establish a welcoming atmosphere for individuals, adhering to the No Force First philosophy.
- Ensure the safe transport of individuals as directed.
- Maintain the safety and security of individuals within the facility.
- Provide direct support to all involuntary individuals during the evaluation process.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Document relevant information and services provided.
- Stay up-to-date on federal and state regulations, laws, and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures.
- Understand and adhere to Recovery Innovations compliance standards, including HIPAA guidelines.
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Assist staff in reviewing and securing individual and visitor personal items.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with successful completion of Peer Employment Training, resulting in Certification as a Peer Support Specialist. Prior law enforcement experience within the last five years or prior employment as a Constable is also preferred. A minimum of two years of behavioral health experience, particularly in a crisis environment, is required. The candidate must meet and pass the minimum training and experience standards established by the Board of Examiners of Constables.

Work Environment
This role may involve working in an office environment or behavioral health facility, potentially interacting with individuals who are agitated or confused. Travel throughout the geographic region may also be required.
