Job Title: Deputy Chief Psychiatrist

Join the Tasmanian State Service as a Deputy Chief Psychiatrist and contribute to the improvement of mental health and wellbeing in the Tasmanian community.

About the Role

The Deputy Chief Psychiatrist will support the Chief Psychiatrist in achieving the objectives of the Mental Health Act 2013, including fulfilling the statutory roles of the Chief Psychiatrist when required. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction in the formulation of programs, policies, and strategic activities to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Chief Psychiatrist in achieving the objectives of the Mental Health Act 2013
  • Provide leadership and direction in the formulation of programs, policies, and strategic activities
  • Represent the Agency and participate in national, statewide, local or special mental health fora
  • Facilitate the effective coordination of mental health and suicide prevention issues
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
  • Holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, including demonstrable evidence of satisfying current continuing professional development requirements
What We Offer

The Tasmanian Government offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Salary range: $291,472 - $301,349
  • Motor vehicle allowance: $28,389 per annum, pro rata
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance: $16,480 per annum, pro rata
  • Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees
