Job Title: Deputy Chief Psychiatrist

Service Tasmania is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Psychiatrist to join our team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Psychiatrist in achieving the objectives of the Mental Health Act 2013.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic advice to the Government, Minister, and Agency on mental health and wellbeing matters.
  • Lead the formulation of programs, policies, and strategic activities to improve mental health and wellbeing in Tasmania.
  • Represent the Agency in national, statewide, local, or special mental health fora.
  • Support the Chief Psychiatrist in fulfilling statutory roles and responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
  • Holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (desirable).
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction in mental health policy and reform.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary range: $210,000 - $301,349 per annum, pro rata.
  • 11.5% superannuation.
  • Motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata.
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata.
  • Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2, or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
