Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and ensure adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards across the site by implementing and maintaining effective organizational systems, programs, and procedures. Regularly assess and enhance site-specific safety processes to achieve superior safety outcomes.
  • Oversee daily production to meet the operational demands of the business division's wagon needs efficiently, including optimal resource allocation.
  • Manage the entire work area, which encompasses:
    • Coordination of activities for the PMs/repairs of wagons that are out of service.
    • Management of repair activities for plant and equipment within the workshop.
    • Establishing work priorities for the team on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Collaborate with the Capacity Planner to formulate weekly and daily resource plans to fulfill operational requirements.
  • Work closely with customer and business division planning and production teams to synchronize wagon placement, release forecasting, and pickup logistics.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, repairs, and incident management for wagons.
  • Ensure that maintenance tasks are executed in compliance with safety, technical, and quality standards.
  • Guarantee that all staff and contractors adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and address grievances within the local work environment.
  • Manage repair activities in alignment with the depot's financial plan.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Planners and Technical Personnel regarding wagon-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements.

About You:

You will possess excellent communication skills, complemented by a relevant maintenance background and experience in personnel management, showcasing outstanding organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Additionally, you will have:

  • A relevant trade background or engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management, ideally within the rail or related transport sectors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in rolling stock performance, technical specifications, and maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability in supervising both trade and non-trade personnel on-site and off-site.
  • Experience in frontline management.
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritize diverse maintenance tasks to meet client needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing a maintenance budget.
