Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and ensure adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards at the site by implementing and maintaining organizational systems, programs, and procedures. Regularly review and enhance site-specific safety protocols to improve overall safety performance.
  • Oversee daily production to meet the operational requirements for wagons efficiently, including optimal resource allocation.
  • Manage the entire work area, which includes:
    • Coordinating activities for scheduled maintenance and repairs of wagons that are out of service.
    • Overseeing repair activities for plant and equipment within the workshop.
    • Setting work priorities for the team on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Collaborate with the Capacity Planner to develop weekly and daily resource plans to fulfill operational needs.
  • Work closely with planning and production teams to coordinate wagon placement, release forecasting, and pick-up schedules.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, repairs, and respond to incidents involving wagons.
  • Ensure that maintenance activities comply with safety, technical, and quality standards.
  • Supervise staff and contractors to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Address and manage grievances within the local work environment.
  • Control repair activities in alignment with the depot budget.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Planners and Technical Personnel regarding wagon-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements.

About You:

You will possess strong communication skills, a relevant maintenance background, and experience in people management, demonstrating exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Additionally, you will have:

  • A relevant trade background or engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management, ideally within the rail or related transport sectors.
  • Extensive knowledge of rolling stock performance, technical specifications, and maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising both trade and non-trade employees on-site and off-site.
  • Experience in frontline management.
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritize diverse maintenance tasks to meet operational demands.
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively manage a maintenance budget.
