Production Operations Manager Job Description

The Production Operations Manager is a vital role in overseeing the entire production process for a renowned designer brand. This involves managing seasonal production calendars, coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers, negotiating costs and lead times, and enforcing quality control standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate production timelines and task plans from development to delivery.
  • Work closely with designers, suppliers, and manufacturers to meet critical deadlines and product specifications.
  • Negotiate and agree on costs, lead times, and production terms that align with business objectives.
  • Oversee sampling and pre-production processes, including fit approvals and bill of materials (BOM) sign-off.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality and integrity.
  • Enforce quality control standards across all production stages, from raw materials to final inspection.
  • Identify and resolve production issues promptly to prevent delays or quality concerns.
  • Monitor and manage production budgets, costings, and material usage effectively.
  • Analyze and improve production workflows and supplier performance to optimize efficiency.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in fashion production or product development, preferably in contemporary or designer ready-to-wear.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in systems (ERP/PLM) and excel efficiencies.
  • In-depth understanding of garment construction, sampling, and critical path management.
  • Experience working with overseas production.
  • Detailed-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure.
