Role Overview

Aptella is seeking an Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) Technician to join their team. This is a site-based role on an 8/6 roster, reporting to the Technical Project Manager – AHS. Due to site flights, your last day will generally be spent in the Mining Divisions Balcatta workshop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Mobile Mining Equipment in testing environments as a 'Safety Driver.'
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware installed to vehicles and machinery in the field.
  • Perform in-field calibration of on-board sensors and components such as GPS, cameras, LiDAR, radar, and communications systems.
  • Provide technical advice on operational technology.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot technology software.
  • Configure key system parameters based on physical machinery attributes.
  • Report and update product tracking systems using agile product management techniques.
  • Develop and participate in autonomous test procedures.
  • Dispatch for autonomous operations.
  • Follow instructions safely, closely, and accurately.

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High-quality hardware installations and wiring skills.
  • Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of schematic diagrams and fault analysis.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills.
  • Highly safety-focused at all times, taking personal responsibility for the safety of others.
Requirements
  • Qualifications or Trade Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields.
  • Sound knowledge of mining machinery and maintenance, particularly rigid haul trucks.
  • Ability to operate Mobile Mining Equipment in testing environments.
  • Knowledge of GPS, RTK, camera, LiDAR, radar, networking, and IT systems.
  • Knowledge of CAN networks and fault finding.
